Kurzbeschreibung Der Big Bend Nationalpark ist ein Land der Grenzen. Er liegt an der Grenze zu Mexiko am Ufer des Rio Grande und ist somit ein Ort, an dem sich Länder und Kulturen treffen.
Es ist auch ein Ort, an dem Landschaften von der Wüste bis zum Gebirge miteinander verschmelzen. Hier trifft der Norden den Süden, der Osten den Westen; das Ergebnis hieraus ist eine große Vielfalt ein Pflanzen und Tieren.
Besucher eher wenig besuchter Park, der am meisten Besucher im März und April, am wenigsten aufgrund der dann herrschenden Hitze im August und September

Facilities visitor centres: 4 available campsites:numerous campsites and campsites; Motels, petrol stations and food are available in the Park.

There are a number of tarred streets where the visitor can get an impression of the Park. The Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive, as well as the road to the Cisos Mountains Basin, is only recommended for experienced drivers. Many unpaved roads require four-wheel drive.
There are more than 350 km of hiking trails through the desert and mountains. Cross-country hikes are possible after registration in the visitor centre.
Information about the Ranger programmes (guided hikes, campfire, etc.) is available in the visitor centres.
Note bear in mind that the Park is huge and you are usually 200 km from the nearest doctor, pharmacy and supermarket.
