On 19 September 1992, in Israel, the then mayors of Nordhausen and Bet Shemesh, Dr. Manfred Schröter and Shalom Fadida, signed the partnership document in the presence of the German ambassador. Nordhausen is the first city in the new Federal States with an Israeli Partner.
