Where is Bellingrath Gardens and Home?

Bellingrath Gardens & Home was built and laid out by Walter and Bessie Bellingrath. Bellingrath made his fortune by bottling Coca Cola. In 1917, he bought the 26-acre property on the Fowl River so that he could fish here in peace.

Ten years later, Mrs. Bellingrath decided to create a garden on the property, which over the years became so large and beautiful that she opened it to visitors from 1932 onwards. In 1935, the Bellingraths finally moved from Mobile to Theodore with the construction of their house.
