The huge Roman Catholic Church combines Byzantine and Romanesque styles in a 20th century Version. s. It is the official homage of the country to Mary, the mother of Jesus and patroness of the USA. The Knights ‘ Bell Tower, a gift from the Knights of Columbus, is 100 m high and topped by a 6 m high cross. Inside is a chime with 56 bells cast in Annecy, France. Of the richly decorated chapels in the crypt, the Marienaltar, made of Golden Algerian Onyx, deserves special attention. The side chapels are dedicated to saints, martyrs, Jesus Christ, Mary of Bistrica and the Virgin of Lourdes.
