This former forest village on the side of the Oslofjørd is one of the wealthiest suburbs of Oslo. You can swim in summer, ski in winter and go shopping.
Visit the peaceful Oslo suburb of Asker to see why several Norwegian royals live here. Being one of the wealthiest areas in Norway, Asker has beautiful buildings, luxury shops and several busy museums. Also due to its location along Oslofjørd, Asker has a colorful waterfront with some of the best beaches in the country.
You can start at the Asker Church, one of the oldest buildings in the place. As you explore the church grounds you will see the iron Age barrows. If you go to a Mass, you may be able to see the Prince and Princess of Norway, who live in the area and often come to the Asker Church.
Asker is considered one of the richest areas in Norway; accordingly, its shops and museums are of the first level. Visit the Trafo Gallery, which exhibits contemporary Norwegian art in the building of an old factory. Explore Billingstad, the shopping area to the north of the village, where the first IKEA store outside Sweden was established. Here you will find luxurious boutiques and shopping centers.
