Where is Arctic Ocean?
The North polar sea is also referred to as the Arctic ocean. But what is an ocean? An ocean or sea consists of larger waters that are connected to each other. For example, there are lakes that are referred to as the sea, such as the “Caspian Sea”, which is not a sea in the true sense of the word, but an inland lake. This is different with the Arctic Ocean or the Arctic Ocean, sometimes you also hear the term “northern Arctic Ocean”.
Parts of the Arctic Ocean remain frozen throughout the year. It rightly bears its name, because a part of the water is constantly in the ice state at low temperatures. This ice forms on the surface in a thickness of several meters. These ice sheets float in the sea. You can imagine the Arctic like a giant ice cube.
By the way, the Arctic Ocean is 14.09 million km2 in size, which sounds huge, but it is the smallest of the oceans in the world. Its average depth is 1038 meters. The lowest point is 5608 meters. The Arctic ocean has so-called in addition to seas, including the Barents sea, the Bering sea, the Norwegian sea, the Grönwaldsee and some more.
Where is the North pole?
In the middle of this pack ice lies the North Pole at 90° north latitude in the middle of the sea. If you move away from the pole and move towards the Arctic Circle, you will eventually come across Land. These lands now belong to Alaska, northern Canada, Lapland and Siberia, not to mention Greenland, the largest island on Earth. There are also some smaller islands.
