Angkor Wat is location Cambodia. Angkor Wat (actually Prasat Angkor Wat) is the main temple, main attraction and most popular postcard motif of Angkor Park. A visit to the plant now really leads absolutely no way past, if you have ever made it to Siem Reap.

No matter how one stands to sights in general and Angkor in particular, one should definitely take a detour and I say this as someone who can not win Angkor Wat otherwise very much. Why this is so, I can explain with one sentence: to see in Angkor Wat a place of peace and tranquility, a spiritual centre at all, you have to bring a lot of imagination. It is overcrowded, the temple was (2010) half equipped but no construction worker far and wide (just like at home, still annoying), a little watering would not hurt and the ubiquitous souvenir sellers would have to be driven out urgently with the coarse broom.

There is no denying, and this assessment is based on old photos, that Angkor Wat was once an overwhelming, presumably magical, fantastic, dizzyingly beautiful place. Unfortunately, not much of it is left. The temple itself is worth seeing.
