Near Dalhart, with an area of more than 3,000,000 Acre, was one of the largest Ranches in the United States, the XIT Ranch. Since 1925, Dalhart has held a major Rodeo in memory of the Ranch in August-the XIT-Rodeo. Shamrock is located on the old US 66, one of the icon of the route, the U-Drop Inn is now a Museum.
