Where is Al Ahmadi Located?

Al Ahmadi is a suburb of Kuwait City, but is already located in the southernmost, eponymous administrative district of Al Ahmadi. It is mainly inhabited by Residents and the nearby oil refineries employ guest workers. The Kuwait National Petroleum Company is also based here.

The city of Al Ahmadi has many green spaces and an architecture inspired by British models. The main Residential Areas are Mangaf, Halifa and Riqqah.

In Al Ahmadi, the oil industry of Kuwait started with the KOC Kuwait Oil Company. Between 1947 and 1970, several thousand British Expatriots lived here. The first maps of Al Ahmadi followed an American scheme with a strictly geometrical road network. The streets were simply numbered 1st Street, 2nd Street, 3rd Street, etc., the cross streets were named Avenues. The whole area was arranged around a hill with the KOC on Top, about 11 km from the coast. In the middle of this city, conceived on the drawing board, lay the Hubara Club, where the employees of the KOC met daily. In this building complex there is a swimming pool, Squash Center, tennis courts, Restaurants, etc. At the foot of the city hill there was a Shopping Center, cinema and banks.
