Kansas is located in the heart of the United States and is named after the Kanza or caw Indians, who also called themselves “people of the south wind”.

Most Americans at Kansas think of swaying wheat fields, flat Land, sunflowers and perhaps still film scenes from “The Wizard Of Oz”. The real Kansas, however, offers both historical and geographical much more: Indians were relocated here in the 19th century, supporters and opponents of slavery delivered themselves in Kansas bloody battles. Huge herds of cattle were then brought by train to Kansas City. Traces of this changing history can still be found today.
