Nicaragua is a state of Central America, located between Honduras in the North and Costa Rica in the South, bordered to the East by the Caribbean Sea (Atlantic Ocean) and to the West by the Pacific Ocean. Its capital is Managua.

An area of 120,254 km2, Guatemala has a population of 5.9 million inhabitants (2009). It is a republic, divided administratively into 15 departments (departamentos; singular : departamento) and 2 autonomous regions (regiones autonomistas, singular : region autonomista). the capital of Nicaragua is Managua. Other major cities are : Masaya, Granada, Esteli, Leon and Chinandega.
