Kenya is a country in eastern Africa. With an area of 580.367 km2 and a population of 40 million (2012), the country borders the Indian Ocean and Lake Victoria. It borders Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia and Tanzania. The capital is Nairobi (2.75 million inhabitants). Other important cities are Mombasa (800,000 inhabitants), Nakuru (260,000 inhabitants), Eldoret (219,000), Kisumu (217,000).
Administratively, Kenya is divided into an area (the area of Nairobi) and 7 provinces : Central, Coast, Eastern, North Eastern, Nyanza, Rift Valley and Western.
