Flag of Jordan

Jordan is a state in western Asia (Near East) bordering the Red Sea (Gulf of Aqaba) and borders Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Palestinian Territories (West Bank).

It is an almost completely desert plateau that extends eastward through the Syrian desert, with an area of 89.342 km2, and a population of 6.5 million (2012). Capital: Amman (1.3 million inhabitants). Other important cities : Zarqa (793 000 inhabitants), Irbid (307 500 inhabitants), Akaba (95 000)., etc.
