Republic of Cyprus, a Eurasian country located on the island of Cyprus. It is also one of the members of the European Union (EU).

This republic is an internationally recognized state, but controls only two thirds of the island. The remaining third (the north of the island) was occupied by Turkey in 1974, establishing the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The latter territory is only recognised by Turkey.
