Bogotá (Capital District). It is the capital city of the Republic of Colombia and the Department of Cundinamarca. As capital, it houses the highest-ranking bodies of the executive branch (Casa de Nariño), legislative branch (Congress of Colombia) and judicial branch (Supreme Court of Justice, Constitutional Court, State Council and Higher Council of the Judiciary).
At the economic level, it stands out as an important economic and industrial centre. Bogotá is the largest and most populated city in the country, as well as being the most important cultural, industrial, economic and tourist center in Colombia and one of the main cities in Latin America. The important cultural offer is represented in the large number of museums, theatres and libraries, some of which are the most important in the country. In addition, it hosts important festivals with a wide history and national and international recognition. Academic activity stands out, as some of the most important Colombian universities are based in the city.
